Hightlights of Laos(5D)

This program introduces travelers to the “must-see” highlights of Laos, including the modern capital of Vientiane and the ancient northern capital of Luang Prabang

ITINERARY IN DETAILS :
Day 1 Arrival Luang Prabang (D) Warmly welcome on arrival Luang Prabang. Transfer to our hotel. Free. At leisure. Welcome dinner. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 2. Luang Prabang (B/L) Visit Wat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temple, we then take the traditional boat trip upstream on the Mekong River to visit the famous caves of Pak-Ou, located at the side of the steep cliff on the bank of the Mekong River housing hundreds of Buddha statues. We visit en route local rice-wine distillery and Ban Phanom weaving village. We then proceed to Wat Phousy on the top of the hill overlooking the Mekong River .

Day 3. Luang Phrabang (B/L)Visit morning market, National museum (the former king's palace), and climb up the Phousi hill for overlooking the city. Free time in town. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4 Luang Prabang- Vientiane (B/L) Breakfast at hotel and enjoy the free time to shopping or relaxing in this enchanting town.
This afternoon we fly on Laos Airlines to the capital Vientiane . Pick up and transfer to Novotel hotel. In the evening, following the meal you can enjoy an evening stroll along the banks of the Mekong River. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 5. Departure (B)
There is no activity planned for today. Enjoy your free time for souvenir shopping until transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

ITINERARY IN DETAILS :
Day 1. HCMC - Vinh Long - Can Tho (L)
Meet our guide at lobby of hotel in HCMC, we drive through the Mekong Delta to the town of Vinh Long for a cruise and a visit to the local markets and orchard gardens. From here we will get back to Vinh Long where we will board our vehicle for the drive to the heart of Mekong Delta. Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 2. Can Tho (B/L) After breakfast we enjoy a cruise on Lady Hau boat to enjoy the morning floating market Cai Rang. Here e ach boat usually sells one particular item, whether it be pumpkins, pineapples, sugar cane etc, and in order that the customer knows where to shop, they hang that item from the highest part of the boat
The afternoon is free at leisure in the most comfortable property in the Mekong Delta. Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 3. Can Tho- Chau Doc (B/L) We drive from Can Tho to Chau Doc through the amazing Mekong Delta with occasional stops visit during the journey. We get Chau Doc at around noon time, Chau Doc town is situated close to the Cambodian border. In the afternoon, we visit a bonsai garden and head up Sam Mountain for a great sunset and a birds eye view over the paddy fields towards Cambodia. Overnight in Chau Doc

Day 4. Chau Doc- Phnom Penh (B) In the morning take high-speed boat to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival at Phnom Penh you will be greeted at the port and transfered to your hotel. Free at leisure in Phnom Penh. Overnight in Phnom Penh .

Day 5. Phnom Penh (B/L) The capital city of Phnom Penh was once considered the loveliest city of Indochina . Despite its recent turbulent history, it still maintains considerable charm. A city tour acquaints us with some major sights of Phnom Penh . The private quarters of the Royal Palace are now home to the royal family and are therefore very close to the public. At the northern area of the palace grounds is Silver Pagoda, the most sacred shrine in the country. We visit both structures as well as the legendary temple of Wat Phnom , which provides an interesting view over the environs. The next stop of our trip is the National Museum , exclusively dedicated to Khmer art and sculpture. The majority of the exhibits are from the Angkor period from 9th to 15th centuries, but some date from as early as the 4th century.
Visit the notorious Toul Sleng Museum. In 1975 Toul Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot's security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21). It soon became the largest such center of detention and torture in the country. The rest of day, you will shopping and excursion at the Central Market and Toul Tompong Market you will feel a bustling daily life of local people with Cambodian's special character through local specialties, their houses, their face, Palaces and buildings of Khmer & Colonial style architectures. Overnight in Phnom Penh .

Day 6. Phnom Penh - Siem Reap & Angkor Wat (B/L) Morning we take flight from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Upon arrival at airport you are met and transfer to visit South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon temple - a unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara, Baphoun, the Terrace of Temple, Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King. The tour start with the visiting to the famous temple: Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is a World Heritage Site since 1992, famous for its beauty and splendor. Angkor Wat features the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls and narrates stories from Hindu mythology. After that, visit Bakheng Temple and enjoy a romantic sun set view form Bakheng hill. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 7. Angkor Wat (B/D) We embark on elephant ride from South Gate of Angkor Thom into jungle of archeological area to the famous Bayon temple and continue to visit Banteay Srei temple nearly everyone's favorite site. The special charm of this temple lies in its compact size, remarkable state of preservation, and the excellence of it decorative carvings, visit Banteay Samre. We continue to visit the fabulous Ta Prohm embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers, Pre Rup, East Mebon , Krovan, Srah Srang, Banteay Kdei and Ta Keo. Dinner and enjoy watching Khmer Folk of charming Apsara dance show at local restaurant. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 8. Tonle Sap Lake - Departure (B) Following breakfast we board on boat in Tonle Sap Lake. Here, enjoy a brief cruise past floating villages complete with schools, restaurants, hospitals, and visit the school of the "Les Artisans d'Angkor". Afternoon free at leisure or additional Siem Reap sightseeing until transfer for departure flight.

Day 1- Arrive Siem Reap
On arrival in Siem Reap, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Siem Reap is the base for exploring the fabled temples of Angkor, the ancient capital of the Khmer empire. After one or some hours relax, you will drive to Angkor area for watching the sun set at Phnom Bakheng and get brief information about this area.

Day 2- Siem Reap - Angkor Temples
Early morning, we enjoy the Tuk Tuk to the jungle-covered temple of Ta Phrom and come back to hotel for breakfast at 07:30. One hour later, begin your temple exploration today at Angkor Thom City by west gate. From the enigmatic faces of Bayon temple to the intricate bas reliefs of the Terrace of the Elephants, Angkor Thom is filled with fabulous monuments. Lunch at local restaurant on your own account. After lunch we drive to Banteay Srei, it is also one of the most beautiful. Built in 967 AD by Jayavarman V's guru, it showcases the most exquisite, deep and complex carvings in all Khmer architecture,

Day 3- Siem Reap - Tonle Sap Lake - Hanoi
After breakfast, you will enjoy a short walk through a tranquil and typical Siem Reap neighborhood before take a drive to Tonle Sap Lake to board a local boat for a cruise through the floating villages (best from July to February). Return to the town before lunch time.
Afternoon, fly to Hanoi.
Our guide and driver will meet you on arrival and take you to hotel in Hanoi.

Day 4 - Hanoi City Tour
For the early risers, may we suggest a stroll along the picturesque Hoa Kiem Lake. Where each early morning, groups of locals gather to do their exercises along the lovely tree lined promenade. You may cross over the red bridge at the north end to Ngoc Son Temple and the Tortoise Tower on a small island.
After breakfast, you will have a full day of your own to see the city so good walking shoes are a must. You will have many options to choose from:
- Temple of Literature, built in 11th Century and the country’s first University
- Ho Chi Minh’s (HCM) Mausoleum and Presidential Palace
- HCM’s Stilt House
- One Pillar Pagoda

Day 5 Hanoi - Halong bay Cruise
You will be met by your guide early this morning at Hanoi’s railway station. After breakfast you will have over 3 hours drive along the country side of the Red River Delta to the UNESCO world’s heritage site of Halong Bay.
A traditional style Vietnamese Junk Cruise is waiting your arrival and will set sail at noon today. Lunch will be served on board amidst spectacular views of the bay.
Today you will visit one of the largest caves in Halong Bay and included is a beach stop where perhaps you may want to take a swim or dip in the water of the South China Sea. Tonight enjoy a fresh seafood dinner on board your junk.

Day 6 - Halong Bay Cruise - Hanoi
Participate in Tai Chi on the top deck or simply watch the sunrise over the magnificent bay. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee or juice before setting out to the near- by cave on row boat. Watch for monkeys high o¬n the cliff tops. Return back to the junk, where breakfast is served, while sailing around Bay Tu Long bay where the film “Indochine” was made.
Your cruise will end at noon and you will be met by your guide & driver for the trip back to Hanoi.

After breakfast, depart the hotel and drive South ward to the Cai Be - Vinh Long Province. From here we will see the Mekong Delta (“Nine Dragon River Delta). This is special experiences of Mekong Delta. visit the Candy factory, orchard garden, listen to traditional music and have lunch with family in the garden.
We cross the islands o­n Mekong river o­n oars boats and experience the real of country side along Mekong. Stay overnight in CanTho - the capital of Mekong Delta. Late afternoon take the short walk to the local market near by.

Day 3. Can Tho - Floating market - SaigonDepart hotel early in the morning to board a motorized boat to travel to visit the famous Cai Rang Floating market. Continue the boat ride to visit the orchards and try the tropical fruits. Visit the local people at their home.
Drive back to Can Tho for lunch. Continue o­n to Saigon, arriving in the late afternoon.

Day 4. Saigon - Cu Chi tunnels - Tay Ninh
Depart this morning for the Cu Chi Tunnels. The Cu Chi Tunnels are a network of underground tunnels begun in 1948 by the Viet Minh in their struggle against the French. These tunnels were expanded and used by the Viet Cong during the war between Vietnam and America. American called this area the “Iron Triangle” and was a Viet Cong strong hold for almost thirty years. You may walk underground in the tunnels.
From here you will continue o­n to see the Cao Dai Temple inTay Ninh, where each day at noon a prayer service is held. It is a striking structure o­n a very large compound. The term Cao Dai (meaning higher place) is a euphemism for God.
Caodaism was found in the 1920’s by Ngo Minh Chieu, using a combination of teaching from Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and other religions into o­ne religion to promote peace.
Have lunch and return back to Saigon in the late afternoon.

The train will pull in around 6:00 at Lao Cai station, near the border of China, you will be met by your driver for the 38 miles drive to Sapa, the premier destination of northwest Vietnam.
Enjoy your breakfast while waiting for hotel check-in, catch a few hours of rest or venture out to discover the beautiful mountain landscapes and ethic minority groups of Sapa. Your guide will take you on a 2 hours trekking to the village of Cat Cat & Sin Chai from here you will trek down to the valley among the terraced fields and meet the hill tribes people, get to know their way of life, cultures and traditions.Get back to Sapa town in the afternoon.

Day 4- Sapa
A whole day for discover of nature as well as different culture of hill tribe people on a new trek in Sapa with a H'mong guide who speaks excellent English
We will begin with a walking tour of Sapa market, then trekking down hill from village to villages around Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van area which is beautifully decorated by terraced-fields and the house of H'mong, Red Zao and Zay people. You have several levels for your trekking today from soft trek 2-3miles, medium trek (3-4 miles) and hard trek (5 miles +)
Great opportunity for taking photos of breathtaking landscapes, meeting friendly hill-tribe people at home and work...
Have home hosted lunch in the village of Zday people.
Later in the afternoon Jeep or Van will take you back to Sapa for refreshment then transfer to Lao Cai for the night train to Hanoi.

Day 1 - Arrival Hanoi - Vietnam
You will be welcomed by staff of Vietnam Today Travel on arrival.
Transfer to the airport and check in hotel in Hanoi.

Day 2 - Hanoi - Halong bay Cruise
After breakfast, you will have over 3 hours drive along the country side of the Red River Delta to the UNESCO world’s heritage site of Halong Bay.
A traditional style Vietnamese Junk Cruise is waiting your arrival and will set sail at noon today. Lunch will be served on board amidst spectacular views of the bay.
Today you will visit one of the largest caves in Halong Bay and a beach stop where perhaps you may want to take a swim or dip in the water of the South China Sea.
Tonight enjoy a fresh seafood dinner on board your junk.

Day 3 - Halong Bay Cruise - Hanoi
Participate in Tai Chi on the top deck or simply watch the sunrise over the magnificent bay. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee or juice before setting out to the near- by cave on row boat.
Return back to the Cruise, where breakfast is served, while sailing around Bay Tu Long bay where the film “Indochine” was made.
Your cruise will end at noontime and our driver will welcome you back and then take a drive to Hanoi

Day 4 - Hanoi city tour
Have breakfast in the hotel and enjoy a full day City Tour. The visit includes most of the city's outstanding historical and cultural sites.
- Hanoi Opera House and Hoan Kiem Lake
- Temple of Literature, built in 11th Century and the country’s first University
- The complex of Ho Chi Minh historical sites, also called the political center of Vietnam.
- HCM’s Stilt House and One Pillar Pagoda
- Visit one of the museum in Hanoi (Museum of History, Museum of Ethnology, Museum of Fine Art, Hoa Lo prison which is also known as the “Hanoi Hilton” )

Day 6 - Vientiane City Tour
Today, there will be a tour of Vientiane. Although Vientiane is the capital city, it has the feel of a small provincial town. The wide boulevards are almost devoid of traffic and with its temples, the city retains the feel of another age. Our tour includes visits to the major temples of Vat Sisaket, Vat Phrakeo and the impressive That Luang Stupa, the country's most important monument. We will also see the Arch of Triumph, the National Museum and the main market. In the evening, following the meal you can enjoy an evening stroll along the banks of the Mekong River.

Day 7 - Vientiane -Siem Reap- Angkor Tour
Have breakfast in the hotel and take the morning flight to Siem Reap. On arrival, our guide and driver will pick you from the airport for hotel in Siem Reap.
Afternoon, we visit Angkor Thom temples: Victory Gate, Bayon, Baphuon, Phimean Akas, Elephant Terrace and Leper King Terrace, Takeo and TaProhm. Lunch served at local restaurant. Afternoon enjoy the spectacular architecture and sculprure of the World Heritage at Angkor Wat and view the sunset over the Angkor complex on the top of Phnom Bakheng Mt.

Day 8 - Siem Reap - Angkor wat
Enjoy Angkor Wat Sunrise and spend the whole morning to explore the greatest fine-art of Angkor Empire at Banteay-Srey temple. Lunch at local Restaurant. Afternoon visit the grand circuit of temples: Prasat Kravan, Banteay Kdei, Sras Srong, Neak Poan, Eastern Mebon, Pre Rup and Preah Khan.

Day 1 - Welcome to Vietnam - Arrive Hanoi
Tour leader of VTT will meet you at the airport and transfer you to hotel for check in and tour briefing.
Afternoon, we take the orientation tour of Hanoi for acclimatizing yourself to local condition. If time permits, enjoy a walking tour around the Old town of Hanoi, famous for 36 guild streets.
The evening highlight is water puppet performance - a traditional form of Vietnam art created by farmers in villages around the Red River delta in the past, and now performed in a theater.

Day 2 - Hanoi City tour - Halong Bay
Morning sightseeing in Hanoi to most of the city's outstanding historical and cultural sites:

Day 3 - Halong Bay - Hoian
Whole the morning today, you will discover Halong Bay - The World Heritage site by private
boat. o­n the cruise is about 4 hours you will enjoy the spectacular view of the rock formations o­n the bay in different sizes and shape such as: Dinh Huong island, Ga Choi island, Dog island, Sail island. The journey including visiting o­ne of the most beautiful caves in this area. Lunch served o­n board
Get back to mainland after the meal and drive to the airport for flight to Danang.

Day 4 - Hoian

Day 5 - Hoian - Hue
After breakfast, you check out hotel and take the nice drive 3 hours northwards to Hue along the scenic coastal line with stops for photogenic scenery and a break at spectacular beach in Lang Co.
On arrival, enjoy the sightseeing of Hue, the old capital of Vietnam from 19th Century, The visit includes: Imperial Citadel built from early 19th Century by the Nguyen Dynasty.
The mausoleum of King Minh Mang - a replica of the King's palace but built purposely for the reincarnation of the King.

Day 6 - Hue - Saigon
Start the day the Vietnamese way!
Take a walking tour of Hue before returning to the hotel for breakfast.
The morning boat trip along the Perfume river should not be missed. Take the mid day time flight to Saigon. o­n arrival, enjoy the brief tour in Saigon. The visit includes: Re Unification palace - The former Presidential Palace, Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral.

Day 7 - Saigon - Cu Chi tunnels or Mekong Delta (Day trip)
There are 2 options today:

1- Visit Cu Chi tunnels -the network of underground tunnels begun in 1948 by the Viet Minh in their struggle against the French. These tunnels were expanded and used by the Viet Cong during the war between Vietnam and America. Americans called this the “Iron Triangle” and was a stronghold of the Vietcong for almost thirty years. Walk underground in the tunnels
and get to know about part of Vietnam modern history from local point of view.

2- Day trip to Mekong Delta
This is great opportunity to experience the living of local along Mekong river. The trip
includes the oar boats along the cannels as local people and visit their orchard, taste the tropical fruit and meeting the local families.

Angkor Unforgettable Tours (5D)

A major archaeological site in northwest Cambodia and the capital of the Khmer empire from the 9th to the 15th century. Day 2: Angkor Temples - Ta Prohm - Angkor Wat - Preah Khan - Neak Pean (B)
Early morning, we enjoy the Tuk Tuk to the jungle-covered temple of Ta Phrom and come back to hotel for breakfast at 07:30. One hour later visit the biggest religious temple in the world - the magnificent Angkor Wat. Built by Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat is considered a masterpiece of Khmer architecture
Afternoon we drive to visit to NEAK PEAN: The original layout of Neak Poan was supposed to be a symbol of the Universe: the central temple represents Mount Meru surrounded by the four Oceans. PREAH KHAN meaning “Holy Sword” is one of the largest temple compounds in Angkor and is defended by four concentric walls. The main shrine and its adjoining buildings are richly decorated with Buddhist motifs and scenes from Hindu epics.

Day 3: Kbal Spean Mountain - Banteay Srei - Banteay Samre (B)
This morning we will drive beyond the main Angkor complex to visit another favourite site, Kbal Spean the Natural resort on the hill (1000 lingas) - 60 minutes walk up the hill. Visit Banteay Srei temple (10th century), regarded as the jewel in the crown of Classical Khmer Art. Continue to visit Banteay Samre, one of the most complete complexes at Angkor due to restoration using the method of "anastylosis". The name Samre refers to an ethnic group of mountain people, who inhabited the region at the base of Phnom Kulen and were probably related to the Khmers. No inscriptions have been found for this temple, but the style of most of the architecture is of the classic art of the middle period similar to Angkor Wat. The proportions of Banteay Samre are splendid. A unique feature is an interior moat with laterite paving, which when filled with water must have given an ethereal atmosphere to the temple.

Day 4: Floating Village - Tonle Sap Lake - Sunset on the Hill of Phnom Krom (B)
Breakfast at hotel, today you will have a half day break at on your own (Swimming pool, shopping in old market, massages……..) Late afternoon (15:30), Visit the floating village of Chong Khneas, located 10 kilometers south of Siem Reap. Take a traditional wooden boat for a ride on the Tonle Sap Lake, the "Great Lake" of Cambodia, one of the largest in Asia. And we will view the sunset on the foot of Phnom Krom which is an amazing time for us with the local people nearby and not with others tourists.
