Kyoto 1 Day Tour

Experience Kyoto, Japan's capital from 794-1868. Visit Nijo Castle, the residence of the Tokugawa era shoguns, and the gold-leaf covered Golden Pavilion, which houses sacred relics of Buddha and is surrounded by exquisite gardens renowned for their beauty. Walk through the Kyoto Imperial Palace and watch traditional Japanese artisans work their craft at the Kyoto Handicraft Center. Visit Heian Jingu Shrine, a partial replica of the Imperial Palace. Walk through Sanjusangendo Temple, Japan's longest wooden structure, famous for its 1,001 human-sized Kannon statues, and browse through the specialty shops leading up to Kiyomizudera Temple for a sweeping view of the city.

Itinerary

Nijo Castle
The Kyoto Residence of the Tokugawa Shogun built in 1603, Nijo Castle is noted for the contrast of its solemn appearance and gorgeous interiors.
Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion)
The most authentic and exquisite Japanese style garden in the world, plus the celebrated Golden Pavilion.
Kyoto Imperial Palace
The ancient Imperial Palace clearly shows the Japanese taste for purity, simplicity and calmness.
Kyoto Handicraft Center
Enjoy buffet lunch (free soft drinks included except alcoholic drink)
and shopping at Kyoto Handicraft Center.
Heian Jingu Shrine
Graceful old court life is reflected in the brightly colored shrine with its vermilion pillars and green roof, and in its enchanting inner gardens and ponds.
Sanjusangendo Hall
A renowned long wooden hall housing 1,001 statues of the Buddhist deity Kannon that date back to the 13th century.
Kiyomizudera Temple
A quaint old lane lined with pottery shops leads to the temple. Enjoy a sweeping view of the entire city from its lofty terrace.

Remarks

1.The tour will be accompanied by a certified English-speaking guide.
2.Minimum participants required : 1 person.
3.Journey between Osaka and Kyoto will be accompanied by an English-speaking tour assistant and use public transportation(JR train).
4.On Saturdays,Sundays,public holidays Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed.The tour will visit Nishi Honganji instead.This includes before and after the public viewing of the Kyoto Imperial Palace in April and October,three days before and after Aoi Festival(May 15) and when there is an Imperial Household event.
5.Please note you are asked your full name,nationality,gender and age to follow necessary procedures before entering the Kyoto Imperial Palace.
6.On Tuesdays in Jan.,Jul.,Aug.,and Dec.or Wednesday if Tuesday is national holiday,Nijo castle is closed.The tour will visit Ryoanji Temple or Daitokuji Daisen-in Temple instead.6.Heian Shrine will be replaced by Chishaku-in Temple on Oct. 22,during Jidai Festival when closed to the public.
7.Drop-off service to Karasuma Kyoto Hotel is not available on the days of Gion Festival(Jul.14-16).
8.Connection to Kyoto Special Night Tour(P.5) is made at Kyoto Hotel Okura.
9.Connection to Kyoto Maiko Night Tour(P.6) is made at New Miyako Hotel or the Kiyomizu Temple parking lot.
